The 2012 all-new Nissan Tiida hatchback, or known as Nissan Latio Sport in Malaysia, has been revealed at the Shanghai Motor Show. Produced at the Dongfeng Nissan Huadu plant in Guangzhou, China, the Tiida will go on sale in China in May, and will enter showrooms across 130 countries under the Versa or Latio nameplates by 2014.
Nissan hopes to build on its successful formula of offering class-leading interior room by increasing the upcoming Tiida’s width, length and wheelbase. The all-new flowing, contemporary design makes sure that the new Nissan is more visually interesting compared with its predecessor. A similar “fluid” theme is carried inside, too.
The familiar HR16DE engine will be called back into service, though it is a new 1.6-litre turbocharged engine with 190 hp and 240 Nm that will catch the most attention when the all-new Tiida goes on sale. A manual gearbox and Nissan’s Xtronic CVT will be available with either engine.
